4th Biennial Conference on the Economics and Psychology of Football 2012
28.-30. Juni 2012 in Heidelberg
Call for papers
Traditionally, every two years just in time for the UEFA European Football Championship or the FIFA World Cup, researchers from economics and psychology who share an interest in the scientific understanding of the world’s greatest sport meet for a conference. It is with great pleasure that we keep this tradition alive and that we invite you to the 4th Biennial Conference on the Economics and Psychology of Football 2012. The conference will take place during the knockout round of the EURO 2012 from Thursday, 28, 2012, to Saturday, 30, 2012.
The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers from economics and psychology sharing a research interest in football (soccer). Main focus of the conference are cognitive processes, judgment and decision making and strategic choice in football. Presentations can relate to (but are by no means limited to) referees’ decisions, betting, penalty performance, expert judgment, players’ salaries and stock-market reactions.
The conference involves 3 keynote talks, oral presentations and a poster session. Abstracts for oral presentations and posters will be reviewed by the scientific committee.
The conference will also involve a visit to the training facilities and stadium of local Premier League Club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The visit will include an introduction to the club’s sporting facilities as well as a conference dinner in the stadium.
